Bergen County “Alternate Route Program” Exam Announced: The staff at the Bergen County Police Academy announced the application period for candidates wishing to compete for a slot in the police academy through the “Alternate Route Program.” This is a tremendous opportunity for those who desire a career in law enforcement. The process is EXTREMELY competitive and begins with the administration of a very competitive written exam (scored) on Monday, March 7, 2022, followed by a physical agility assessment (scored) weeks later, and an oral panel interview (scored) likely held in April.
To enter the Bergen County competitive process, interested candidates MUST attend a MANDATORY open-attendance meeting on either Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 7 p.m. or Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. to obtain a formal application. The academy is then ONLY ACCEPTING the first 240 applications completed and returned by the date they specify.
