Bergen County "Alternate Route Program" Exam Announced: The staff at the Bergen County Police Academy announced the application period for candidates wishing to compete for a slot in the police academy through the "Alternate Route Program." This is a tremendous opportunity for those who desire a career in law enforcement. The process is EXTREMELY competitive and begins with the administration of a very competitive written exam (scored) on Monday, March 7, 2022, followed by a physical agility assessment (scored) weeks later, and an oral panel interview (scored) likely held in April. New York State Police 2022 Entry-Level Trooper Examination Application Period Now Open! The New York State Police (NYSP) have announced their 2022 entry-level exam cycle and are processing applications right now at NYSP Application. The New Jersey State Police (NJSP) opened their application period on Sunday, March 28, 2021 for another open-competitive testing cycle. The online application period will close on Friday, April 23rd, 2021.  Once the NJSP short-form online application (via the portal) is properly submitted, the competitive process starts with a Physical Qualification Test (PQT) expected to be scheduled in May which includes only push-ups, sit-ups, and a 1.5 mile distance run. Only those candidates who pass the physical test will be permitted to move on to the written testing which is expected to be schedule for approximately a month after the completion of the PQT.
