The NJSP currently have an online application period open for their 2023 testing and selection process for entry-level trooper candidates. Candidates interested in applying to the NJSP must go to https://nj.gov/njsp/recruiting/ and apply by Friday, May 5, 2023. Those candidates interested in preparing for the written testing can now complete the registration for the CCS Test Prep® Online Program. Students train via the CCS Test Prep® Online Learning Platform with 24/7 access to study at their convenience beginning Friday, May 19, 2023 and continue with 24/7 access up to the student's actual test date in June of 2023. The New Jersey Civil Service Commission (NJCSC) has posted the formal Announcement and opened the online application portal for the 2023 NJ LEE. This is a significant change in the previous 3-year testing cycle, as the NJCSC has implemented annual NJ LEE testing. Only those departments/jurisdictions that "opted in" for this NJ LEE cycle are included. Any department/jurisdiction that did not opt in will simply extend the existing list from the 2022 NJ LEE cycle. Any candidate who tested in 2022 for a department/jurisdiction that has an announcement as part of this year's NJ LEE cycle will need to test again this year to be a part of that department's list once the 2023 results come out. Understanding “Residency Preference” for the 2022 NJ LEE Application Process In an unusual twist, the New Jersey Civil Service Commission (NJCSC) has changed the application process for the 2022 NJ LEE cycle. Instead of candidates submitting a single application and choosing title areas (e.g., municipal police officer, sheriff’s officer, county correctional police officer, etc.), candidates must now submit a separate application for each individual agency for which they want to be considered. Bergen County "Alternate Route Program" Exam Announced: The staff at the Bergen County Police Academy announced the application period for candidates wishing to compete for a slot in the police academy through the "Alternate Route Program." This is a tremendous opportunity for those who desire a career in law enforcement. The process is EXTREMELY competitive and begins with the administration of a very competitive written exam (scored) on Monday, March 7, 2022, followed by a physical agility assessment (scored) weeks later, and an oral panel interview (scored) likely held in April. To enter the Bergen County competitive process, interested candidates MUST attend a MANDATORY open-attendance meeting on either Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 7 p.m. or Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. to obtain a formal application.
