The NJ Civil Service Commission (NJCSC) has changed the NJ LEE administration as an annual cycle for those titles/jurisdictions that choose to test more frequently. NJ Parole requested another test in 2024, so the NJCSC included the Parole Officer Recruit title on the 2024 NJ LEE announcement. The 2024 NJ LEE application period opened on March 1, 2024, with an application closing date of April 1, 2024.

New Jersey Civil Service LEE

The Civil Service Application Period

The New Jersey Civil Service Commission (NJCSC) opened the 2024 NJ LEE application period on March 1, 2024 with a closing date listed as April 1, 2024. Candidates are required to submit applications for each title and jurisdiction for which he or she wanted to be eligible.

With regard to the administration of the actual written exam, the NJCSC is expected to administer the NJ LEE in July of 2024. Candidates are able to select their test location, date, and time via the SignUpGenius™ scheduling platform. Last year, on May 5, 2023, the NJCSC sent applicants a link to SignUpGenius™ for candidates to select their test date, location, and time. The NJCSC is expected to follow a similar schedule in 2024.

The NJCSC commonly uses community college sites around the state for testing. The NJCSC commonly uses county college facilities in Bergen County, Passaic County, Hudson County, Essex County, Union County, Middlesex County, Ocean County, Mercer County, Camden County, and Atlantic County. Candidates had the ability to choose any of the available locations and were not limited to their home county.

When to Complete the Online Prep Course?

Every candidate is different, but history has proven that the most consistently high scores come from those who prepare diligently during the three weeks of the actual exam. Since candidates are able to choose their test date from a long list of options over a six week period, the individual student’s online access will be set for the weeks leading up to the student’s actual test date. The CCS Test Prep® Online Program has an established timeline of phasing in learning components during the weeks immediately leading up to the day of the student’s exam. The timeline is based on analyzing and identifying the most successful methods of training for students to achieve the highest outcomes. Students who prepare during the month (weeks and days) leading directly up to the actual exam date consistently score higher than students who attend courses too far from the exam administration. The CCS Test Prep® Online Program utilizes the ideal timelines for the greatest student success.

This is the exact type of exam which served as the basis of much of Chief Paprota’s doctoral research.
